Canterton House

Project: Canterton House, Michelmarsh

Project Description:

This project comprised of the design and build of a 4.500 sqft traditional Hampshire house.  The property is cut into the Michelmersh hill, making it a unique design split across many levels that was structurally challenging.  This luxury home has a very open plan interior with large oak beams and trusses. The large oak staircase and gallery frames the upper floors, and a high level of internal finishes were installed throughout.

Having been house-hunting unsuccessfully for 18 months, in 2020 (between national Covid lockdowns) we bought a house built in 2007 by Darcy Construction. We loved it from our first viewing and love it more as time goes by. We live outside most of the summer, on the patio accessed from both floors and hunker down inside with the log burner and a 15’ Christmas tree in winter. It’s such a well thought through house, with the wonderfully creative, flowing design being matched by the meticulous attention to small detail. It is pure pleasure to live in. The layout provides natural light flooding every room. The rooms comprising the living area are somehow simultaneously intimate and vast, and the bedrooms are all big whilst varying in style. It is full of originality and needs to be seen to be believed. It is a fabulous house for entertaining, big parties and smaller dinners – our walls certainly have lots of stories of good times to tell!

Thank you Darcy Construction.
